Eleventh Station

The Eleventh Station:  Jesus is Nailed to the Cross.

1. Huge nails are hammered through his hands and feet to fix him on the cross.  He is bleeding much more seriously now.  As the cross is lifted up, the weight of his life hangs on those nails.  Every time he struggles to pull himself up to breathe, his ability to cling to life slips away.

2. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

3. I make myself watch the nails being driven through his flesh.  And I watch his face.
I contemplate the completeness of his entry into our lives.  Can there be any pain or agony he would not understand?

4. This is for me.  Nailed to a cross to forever proclaim liberty to captives.  What sorrow and gratitude fill my heart!

5. "He was pierced for our offenses, crushed for our sins, upon Him was the chastisement that makes us whole, by His stripes we were healed." —Isaiah 53:5
"I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and petition; and they shall look on Him Whom they have thrust through, and they shall mourn for Him as one mourns for an only son, and they shall grieve over Him as one grieves over a first-born." —Zechariah 12:10
"As He said this He showed them His hands and feet." —Luke 24:40
"See, He comes amid the clouds! Every eye shall see Him, even of those who pierced Him. All the peoples of the earth shall lament Him bitterly. So it is to be! Amen!" —Revelation 1:7

Prayer: Father, pierce me with love and repentance when I look at the crucifix.
